Sunset at Japanese Garden, Chandigarh: Pic-credit

Last week on Sunday evening I along with my wife, daughter and, son in law went to Industrial Area for some shopping we were disappointed as the market was closed. On way back from Industrial Area market we came across Japanese park, My son Harsh asked us about Japanese Garden, we told him that we never had been there. He started by telling us about Japanese Garden. He told us we are going over Japanese Park.

Over park In car? I asked.

He said yes, and this brought us to the Japanese park, the park is built in 13 acres of land.It consists of water bodies, pagoda towers, water falls, meditation centre, a Buddha idol, golden bamboos and many more. I asked my son not to disclose all about park and lets explore it personally.

And here we reached to an amazing park,

There is nice parking space totally free. The entry gate is Japanese style. There is no entry ticket. The park is very clean it was not busy at all. It consists of two phases both phases are connected by a tunnel type subway below main road (Over park In car 😉)decorated with beautiful Japanese paintings on both sides depict Japanese style. The garden is really designed using Japanese architecture and each item gives Japanese touch. We loved scenic beauty and took innumerable photos with various monuments.

Paintings in Subway to Phase 2 of Japanese park

We saw Dragon monument the dragon is most ionic images of Japan. We got impressive environment to roam around and experience the lap of nature, culture and peaceful atmosphere and excellent greenery.

Pagoda Tower: Tower of spirituality

We saw Pagoda Tower, it appeared five storey type tiered tower with multiple leaves. Where each storey represent the five basic element of our life: Wind, Water, Earth, Fire and Sky. Japanese build these towers for religious functions associated with Buddhist Temple.

Small ponds with artificial crocodiles with open mouth is good attraction for kids. It is well maintained garden, greenery is excellent no loud noise pollution, it is medium sized park.

Bamboos Trees: Get closer to Japanese Landscape

The trees are well designed. Golden bamboo’s Trees green landscapes created natural beauties of nature. beautiful Pagoda shaped light lamps, chairs are designed as Japanese culture.

Me with my better half on walking trail surrounded by Bamboos trees

Moreover, Gautam Buddha statue, hand crafted stones, rocks added wonders to garden, Swings are source of entertainment for children. Elderly people and kids enjoy ambience. The food canteen was closed due to Covid-19. There are good public toilets , but facility of drinking water is missing.

Rock based sculpture

Really, JAPANESE GARDEN is a well groomed, beautifully maintained park It is a Zen and awaits tourist attraction.

At night , the Garden looks astonishing as the walkways have been illuminated with Japanese lanterns looks authentic. This is one of the recent Gardens developed by Chandigarh Administration. Evening sunset is very fine. I again quote it is marvellous place to have picnic with friends or family .It is also beautiful place for school children picnic.

Me with Pagoda style Japanese lanterns

The bridge over river with artificial crocodiles, the huts with benches, unique stones and rocks are mesmerising parts of Garden. The JAPANESE GARDEN is UNEXPLORED even by citizens of Chandigarh it should be appreciated by everyone. It is Peaceful and Worth-seeing..

Wrap-up: Nature experiences Never ends 😇

At the end I can say Japanese Garden is Unexplored Park and is not famous as Rock Garden, Rose Garden, Sukhna Lake etc. as tourists visitors miss to visit this Garden. I suggest it is best garden ever in Chandigarh .It is good for morning and evening walkers as jogging tracks are nice.It is must visit once to enjoy nature. This time I have covered first phase of the park, I will visit again to bring more insightful experience of this garden.
